Okay, ranting time! So, I submitted River to the Spirit Source and listed her as a Kiger Mustang and American Paint mix. However, the mods rejected her saying that the movie takes place in the 1800's (1860's if they really wanna be specific with me) and that the Kiger Mustang was not founded till 1977 so it would be impossible for her to be a Kiger cross. So because of that I can not be specific with her genetics when in fact Spirit is indeed a Kiger. So because they were not discovered before then automatically means that they never existed? They existed. The people who captured them during the BLM Mustang roundup didn't just pull them out of their rectums. Their name came later, yes, but why does that effect us on being true to our characters (and Dreamworks) and be real about their genetics. Not only did Breyer claim Spirit as a Kiger but so did Dreamworks, the creators of the movie. So now they are denying Dreamworks words and wishes.
If the they really want to get technical, Rain wouldn't have been known as an American Paint Horse till 1962 when the American Paint Horse Association was founded, dedicated to preserving both color and stock-type conformation. Throughout the 1800s and into the late 1900s they were just called paint, pinto, skewbald, and piebald. In the 1950s the Pinto Horse Association was formed to dedicate to preserving the spotted horse then in 1962 the APHA was made. And many of us know that Rain was the first animated paint horse to receive an honorary registration from the American Paint Horse Association. Despite her being just known as a paint or a pinto before the APHA was founded. But she is still called an American Paint Horse because that is what she is! Dreamworks confirms it just as much as they confirm that Spirit is a Kiger Mustang! And yet they still accept American Paint Horse characters. So why reject Kigers? I know I'm really specific with dates and times and making characters realistic, but this is just... absurd. If there was proof that that specific breed has been around for years and years, with proof, then why does it matter?
With what they did for Kigers they might as well ban the American Paint Horses too and force their creators to just call them paints or pintos. Or if you want to go about it the English way; skewbald and piebalds.
Excuse my rant but I really needed to get this off my chest. I do understand being realistic since I also do my darndest to make realistic characters, aside from the ones based on legends and spirits, but even with them I try to make them believable. And I know I'm acting like a child about it but this one thing really irks me. Normally I don't let things like this bother me but in the few days my Facebook account actually allowed me to get back on my old Source account (and a lot of things, mainly rules, have changed in my absence) it just all adds up. I love the Source, don't get me wrong. I'm not hating the game. But I can see why many people left. I'm not dissing on all the mods, either, but they need to see that they are becoming really strict with little room for the ones who are trying to make good characters. I understand there needs to be some rules and limits but it doesn't need to be at the point where we can't breathe. Especially now that every single character has to have some ties to Spirit, the movie, and the books. This is especially difficult for me with so many characters who never had specific ties to either of those but did at some point meet ones who did have relations. They are the Templars, the Sources is the Circle of Magi, and we are the mages. Yay, stupid Dragon Age reference!

I'm done with my whining but I do feel better now that I voiced my opinion. I'll just finish my post and go watch Orange is the New Black. Only on episode five of season one so I have much to catch up on. If any comments regarding the rant please be mature with replies. Or if you simply don't like it then you can kindly leave.
